Eyes See Fire

Mercy? Forgiveness?
What could such words mean?
The fire which rests upon the water?
The eyes of ashes?
The blood of boiling heat?
The heart of warmth?

With every blink of the eyes
a strong current of sparks
Eyes of fire
Flames upon flames of heat consuming water
Growing stronger
The heart pumping louder
The voices growing stronger
Fixated straight ahead

Not a glance to the right nor to the left
The sweat dripping increasing the pain
Sight of the right hand, images of imprints
engraved burns of not a rope but a chain

Inhaling the flames, exhaling remaining steam
Choices, at last, choices
A new world, from ashes and dust
to light and brilliance
Extinguishing flame upon flame
No right, No wrong
Eyes brought back to life,
Zealous and strong
Heat no longer consuming water,
welcoming a new beat
Water remaining dominant over the heat

Waves washing over the land
Conquering flame after flame
Mercy? Forgiveness?
What could such words mean?
Hands gripping one another
Bringing the dead to life, increasing vital signs
Not once but many times
Once to life, and alas to dust
Forgive me, but it was a promised must
